Hey Dirty…do you have a video on defensive skating? I was on the rink floor for 5 minutes the other night and the “bad kids” were running amuck. This one kid turns around and starts skating the wrong way. The only problem…I was right behind him. I had no choice but to bear hug him because I knew when we collided that if he fell back he’d hit his head. There was NO way for me to avoid him or stop (I still need practice on stopping without the wall🤦🏼‍♀️ inertia isn’t my friend) Everyone was ok, but the substitute teacher in me came out and it was a lecture about rules and safety 😉 The lady behind us said it was slow motion. 😂 Thanks for your lessons, I try to do something new every time I go❤

I'm getting back into skating after about 20 years. I'm older, fatter and out of shape. I know I cant do the things I used to do on skates....and my brain TELLS me i probably shouldn't do them. But the love of skating is STILL within me and I know there are things I CAN do. So I been going out to the rink and easing back into the swing of things and boy it feels good. I still feel like Bambi learning to walk as I get my skate legs back under me, but its coming along. I never felt I was too old to skate and your video help reinforce that. Big thanks

My other foot will just NOT follow. It's so frustrating. Its like when I point my shoulder to the directionI turn in and start rounding that outer leg, my other leg does not want to follow. I have to pick it up for it to follow suit.

I'm a retired professional roller skater. And what I like about your video is that you're absolutely correct people tend to rely on one foot and one foot only meaning they're putting all their weight on one foot which will only lead to the your body becoming dependent to that one side and will also cause major blisters on that one foot because you're basically putting all your weight on that one foot. I see people learning how to skate backwards for the first time what I do is try to encourage them to do the butterfly first because it's a little bit easier for them and all their weight is centered in the middle of their body and I also try and encourage them to also learn how to use and control their upper because the lower part will just follow. But you are doing an amazing job and thumbs up to you. Eventually once they start getting really good skating backwards they will how to skate backwards the right way like how you were doing towards the end of the video. The right is the same way as they do it on ice skates.

OMG! Practicing this step actually UNLOCKED my ability to comfortably do a crossover while skating forward… and I mean ALLLL the way over 😂 Thank you, Dirty Deb!
